Milestones

Very happy with our wedding album. I was nervous we’d have to pay customs/import duties but it was no issue in the end (based in Aus). Pictures are great quality and the packaging is a nice touch ☺️

The book is beautiful, even better quality than I imagined it would be! Honestly, I’ve never had something printed at such an exceptional quality. The “flipping experience” is smooth and perfect with the high quality weighted paper. We printed our wedding album, and it is 100% worth it as a beautiful keepsake. I did get it 50% off, and would have a hard time justifying paying $300 for a book, but am happy with $150! :)

Upon receiving my printed books from Milk, I was totally impressed with the product. I went with the premium book, with the six color printing and hardcover, and wow. Excellent quality craftsmanship. The prints look better than I thought or hoped they would. To be clear, I am an art photographer, I shoot on film, and I have made books and prints in the past with other vendors, so I do have some frame of reference for print and production quality. Customer service from Milk was also good. During the process of making the book with their design studio, I called the office a couple times. My questions were answered quickly even though I was calling quite late and they were friendly. Overall, it's been a fantastic experience working with them. I would say that for US users, import tax and fees could be a thing. In my case, as the books I had printed were done on behalf of my company, FedEx did hold my shipment in customs for a few hours to determine if I owed any import taxes. It turned out that I did. After answering a few questions on the phone, they released the shipment and sent it to me. About a week after getting the shipment, I got another letter in the mail from FedEx with a bill in it for the taxes. It was about 10% of the cost I paid to have the books made. I'm not sure if this would have happened had I had the books made for me and shipped to me personally rather than my company. In any case, the Milk website is very clear about the fact that you may need to pay import taxes, so this isn't a complaint about Milk, just a heads up to any US customers that you might incur extra costs due to their being an international outfit (based in New Zealand, but the books get made in and shipped from Hong Kong). Regardless of the import taxes I paid, I am completely pleased with the product from Milk and it is absolutely worth the extra cost of import taxes.
