MILK has a rich history as curators and hand-makers of the finest books. MILK handcrafted books was born out of an award-winning book publishing house – Blackwell & Ruth (formerly PQ Blackwell).
Long before the current MILK ever existed. In 1999, our founder Geoff started the MILK Collection with the aim of collecting photographs, from both amateur and professional photographers, which celebrated our shared humanity. By 2001, the collection had grown to around 40,000 images, 300 of which were chosen to be the basis for an exhibition and three books founded on Family, Friendship and Love. The project was an international bestseller, but the concept was simple: to capture and celebrate what unites us as human beings – those Moments of Inspiration, Laughter and Kinship.
Since then Blackwell & Ruth have published a number of international bestsellers Authorized Portraits of leading figures such as Princess Diana and Nelson Mandela. As well, award winning titles for photographers such as Tim Flach, Platon, Andrew Zuckerman and Albert Watson.
MILK handcrafted Photo Books is now a global business headquartered in New Zealand, we produce elegant hand-made print on demand books and albums using the finest archival materials and 6-color printing. Our customers upload their images into our proprietary online design studio and create custom, premium photo books and albums that are shipped anywhere in the world.
