Good quality paper 11/09/20
Good quality paper, item arrived earlier than expected.
Not the best experience guys (updated) but you turned it around 08/09/20
Not the best experience guys. After I was notified my book had been printed, I had a shipping confirmation and tracking number sent to me by email. However, after five days no information other than “label generated” was visible via the tracking number. A few days after that I received another email that said, “Congratulations, your book has been sent to print.” When I wrote to customer service, it took 72 hours (at least) to hear back that they needed to reprint my book. No offer of faster shipping or anything to speed up the delivery of the reprint. My last email has gone unanswered for four days. And tonight they asked me to review my book and to talk about “how it feels to hold in my hands.” They don’t even know they haven’t delivered my book. Grrrrr... Meanwhile, my son has already left for college and I was unable to give him the book I made for him before he left. I have to own the fact I was tight on the deadline, but I was safely within the delivery window by a handful of days. Poor communication in Milk’s part. Customers should have to reach out to ask why their book didn’t ship and/or why it was being sent to print a second time. And bad timing on the review request. I’m sure the book will be lovely...if it ever comes. But they need to better integrate their customer service management and printing operations. No one is talking. EDITED OCTOBER 1, 2020: When companies respond quickly and authentically, it feels only fair to update a review. Shortly after writing this, in fact, immediately after writing this I was sent a full update and apology by Milk's CEO, Carl Anderson. Somehow my book had been shipped to the wrong address. It was being returned, but to save time it was also being reprinted. And that reprint arrived in expedited fashion and, of course, looked amazing upon receipt. However, there was one issue with that book — it was missing the title on the cover. For this I am not going to blame Milk. But I'm also not going to blame myself. I am going to blame the software used to create the book which exists as an applet or extension inside of Apple's desktop photos app. Making this book took several weeks and over the course of those weeks, from time to time, there would be unexplained glitches in the file. For instance, a page might disappear and need to be rebuilt. Or a photo that had been cropped would suddenly be un-cropped. I suspect this is what happened with the cover as I had my wife proof-read the entire book onscreen, I then followed up her proofreading with the necessary fixes, but at no point did I notice the missing title, however I had observed it disappearing before. TLDR: On a tight deadline, I made a book of Dad Advice for my son heading off to college. Milk made creating that book relatively easy with their Apple Photos applet/extension, but when it came to printing and shipping and communication of an error on their part, they were slow to explain, necessitating a reprint/reship of the book, causing me to miss my deadline to deliver my book to my son before he left for school. Once alerted to the problem - via this review - they upped their customer service game, reprinted the book, have been fantastic and delivered a great product. If you use the Apple Photos integration and have a large file - make sure you triple check the file to make sure nothing has disappeared.
Beautiful product and excellent… 07/09/20
Beautiful product and excellent quality. Delivered on time and as expected. The usability of the program on iPhoto could be more user friendly, but otherwise easy to put together.
Platform needs some work but album quality is great 04/09/20
The online link is a bit slow when you have a big album and I would 100% recommend photos are organised before uploading as it will save heaps of time. The quality of the album is great and the cost is reasonable in comparison
Love the album, need a few website updates 02/09/20
Love the album, however the website could use a few updates to be more user friendly. First of all, I need an "undo" button. It was too easy to make a split-second error with a click or drag, then it would take 30 minutes to restore my previous work (especially on customized pages). Second, while a sleek website looks nice, I didn't appreciate having to hover over certain areas in order to view the button - again, this lead to split second errors if I accidentally click a field that was hard to see. Otherwise, a great site to build albums, high quality prints, and I felt good about the brand's eco-consciousness with sustainable papers. I got the maximum size of 200 pages and each page lays well. Prints a bit darker than expected.
