Terrible customer service. Quality poor.

I never write reviews but I am so mad. I've been following milk books for years, I've heard good things and they seem like high quality products. They were the only company that let me customize the photo layout like I wanted to, which is important to me as a designer. The book size options are lacking. No where did it say this was coming from China. It took forever and I ordered it as a gift for my fiance before our wedding. I am so disappointed in the quality and it is now too late for me to order another. I have high quality photos from a photographer and at least half of them printed darker or at a lower quality than what I would expect from a high quality printer. There is also a stitch going through one of the full size photos which was not shown or mentioned in the preview. I am so incredibly upset and disappointed that I wasted my money. It also very difficult to customize and use their program. And this is coming from a web designer.

So dissatisfied, I placed this order on the 14 of December and it didn’t show till almost a month later. And the book is the size of 3x5 photo. I made books like this through apple and now that they have outsourced it is so completely disappointing. The quality, fit and finish of the books they provided and at the same price are leaps and bounds apart. I took a shot at you guys putting together my memories of the year for my loved ones and when not only did it come long after Christmas it was a said excuse for the albums I have created the past. I’m not sure who I’m more disgusted with, Apple for putting you guys in the photo app as a potential source for the book.....myself for not going through Fuiji or you guys for dragging your feet on a inferior product. In my opinion my entire purchase should be refunded. Shame.

We make photo books all the time but we wanted something special for our wedding photos and when I first come across Milk Books, they appeared to be exactly the type of company we was looking for - they claim to offer a bespoke customer service coupled with luxury products, so when a black friday offer came up we jumped to purchase a voucher which gave us 6 months to make our photo book. I wish we had tried to use the website before we brought the non-refundable voucher. The website doesnt work with internet explorer at all. There is no mention of this anywhere prior to purchasing or in the terms and conditions (apparently its hidden in the trouble shooting section) so we spent days frustrated with system and unable to work out why we couldnt progress with our book. As we are based in the UK, reaching customer service was a nightmare. There was no one ever available to take our call despite us making arrangements to call in the New Zealand opening hours (which wasnt easy considering we have a young family and the time difference). E-mail responses would take 3 days and be robotic and not answer what we was asking. We were using a work laptop so had to seek approval to download firefox but even when we was able to use firefox the design tool is inflexible and difficult to use so making the book was a painful experience. We got our photo book and whilst we love the photos from our photographer, I wasnt impressed with the clarity or colours in some of the printed photos but I honestly didn't see the point in raising this with the company given the disinterested responses we received from customer services previously. Unfortunately based on our experince we cannot recommend Milk Books.
