I have now ordered & received 14 Moleskine photo albums which are a fantastic classy albeit expensive product worthy of the 5* you see amongst these reviews. So why haven't I given the same? The last order of 4 incurred a charge by FedEx of £81.76 which I had to pay before receiving the books. An extra £20 per book on top of the £130ish in the first place stings hugely. When I contacted the Milk help desk, they didn't, other than say it was a matter for me to try to reclaim the money and sent a link to FedEx website.
Having had to open a FedEx account, I've now spent over a month sending emails, photos links etc and phone calls to FedEx and have just been told I now need to wait up to 12 more weeks for a decision and if it's not deemed to be FedEx's fault, then pay £60+VAT
In summary, the product is great, but the supply chain puts you at risk of a similar situation despite the package being correctly labelled as Hardcover Photo Book.
Superb print quality and production values; customs clearance process needs improvement.

The image and production quality of the book are superb, and the technical staff were attentive to potential problems with the digital files that I supplied.
The process of dealing with U.S. Customs needs to be improved, however. MILK Books' plant is in Hong Kong. When the books reached the U.S. Customs clearance in the United States, Customs demanded that I complete a shipper I.D. form. Neither MILK nor FedEx, the carrier, provided much help in dealing with that. As a retired lawyer who specialized in federal administrative law, I was able to guess the required responses. But an ordinary lay consumer is likely to find the process daunting.
Great design experience, but disappointing product quality

We really loved the design experience on the website, but the actual product we received was different from what we imagined or how it was presented in the pictures. The pages are very thin, just like a simple printed magazine. We imagined them to be much thicker and more durable. The cover didn't survive the shipping and arrived bent. If we had known this was the quality of the materials, we wouldn't have ordered, especially after paying such a high price.
