MILK has introduced a new format to its range – the MILK Medium Landscape Photobook.
This new format (7.45cm x 9.25cm) replaces a combination of two existing sizes - the MILK 7x9 and 8x10 photo books.
If you have started creating a MILK 8x10 or 7x9 but are yet to complete it, they will still be accessible in the old size from your Books In Progress tab – you’ll just no longer see these formats available in the catalog.
You still have three months to finish and order any 9x7 or 10x8 photo book you’ve already started and any special offers you may have (eg Living Social promotional codes) will still be valid.
If you have previously printed a 7x9 or 8x10, your books will still be visible via your Previous Orders tab and you have until 01 September ‘13 to order a reprint of any 9x7 or 10x8 photo book before these sizes are no longer available. And, you can now re-edit previously ordered books, so if you’d like to make changes before you reprint, you can. Just click Re-edit from your Previous Orders page.
If you’ve collaborated with friends and family on your books, they’ll also have until 01 September'13 to order a copy, via their Friends' Books page.
We’ll of course continue to honor vouchers purchased for existing formats until the expiry of their promotional value and these codes (eg Living Social) will also be valid for the new MILK Medium Landscape. Any current projects will still be editable and able to be purchased via your Books in Progress page until September 1st.
After the expiry of promotional value, and following the discontinuation of the current sizes, if you have not used your voucher, the face value of your offer (ie the amount you paid) can still be transferred to the purchase of any MILK Book.
From 21 May, Portrait and Landscape Bespoke Books will come with a new stitched binding. Best of all, books will still lie-flat.
If you've previousy made a Bespoke Book, please note that the new binding style means we've needed to slightly reduce the size of Landscape Bespoke Books, to 9.25x7.4” / 23.5x18.8cm. You can re-edit and re-print previous Bespoke Books in the old size until 01 September 2013. Any books started after 21 May will be created in the new size.
Portrait Bespoke Books remain the same size, but the French Fold binding style has been replaced by the new stitched, lie-flat style.
We’ve also added Orla Kiely fabric to our designer fabric range for Bespoke Books, so now you can cover your book in signature Orla prints.
Video page layout options are now included in all MILK Photo Books as standard. You no longer need to select a Photo Book with Disc when you start making your book; you can simply add one as an optional extra at checkout.
Both the Disc and online-shareable Digital Flip books feature any video content you chose to include in your book and both digital options also give you a downloadable, iOS-compatible PDF version of your book.
As part of ongoing efforts to refine our production process we have also made changes to some design templates for our Moleskine Photo Books range, so you may notice some minor layout adjustments to Moleskine Photo Books and Albums started before 03 January 2013.
If you started a book and haven't finished, don’t worry – we haven’t moved, altered or deleted anything - but you should check all of your books in progress before you click PAY & PRINT just to make sure everything is where it should be.
If you would like to reprint a Moleskine Medium Landscape Photo Book, Moleskine Landscape Photo Book plus, Moleskine Large Square Photo Book or a Moleskine Photo Album that you made before 3 January 2013, please check your book (especially any colored page layouts) before you reprint.
If you're creating your book with collaborators and a page has a small padlock icon in the spread browser, it means someone else is working on that page. Once they're finished, it will unlock. If you're the author, you'll then get to approve a collaborator's additions.
If you're not working with collaborators, but the word "locked" is appearing on your page, it may just take a few seconds to complete a process before you can continue editing. Usually, turning a page and/or saving your book will unlock it. If you are still unable to edit a page, save and then exit your book, then reload the project from My Books.
There are a number of reasons why your code may not validate. Firstly, please ensure you have chosen the correct type of book for your voucher, with the correct number of pages, and that the code you are entering is the ‘Voucher Number’. Also be sure you have selected any additional features which are included in your promotional offer, such as a ‘Digital Flip Book’.

All books are printed by PQ Blackwell’s long-standing and highly respected print partner, 1010 Printing Group based in Yuanzhou, China. 1010 is the same printer who prints our award-winning photographic coffee table books and is an ISO accredited, ethically and environmentally responsible employer.
Customs policies vary from country to country and you, or the recipient of your book, may be subject to import duties and taxes which are payable upon delivery. If you are unsure about whether these charges may apply to your order, please contact your local tax or customs authorities.
We aim to dispatch your book within seven days of order confirmation. During peak production and shipping periods your book may take a little longer, so please allow for this.
Once your book is on its way, you will receive a confirmation email, which includes a link to your parcel’s tracking number. Use this tracking number to keep an eye on the progress of your book. Generally, books will be delivered to main centres within 3-5 days of dispatch, although this will also depend on Customs clearance in your location. You can also track your book’s progress at any time under CURRENT ORDERS.
MOLESKINE + MILK uses express courier shipping services with FedEx and DHL, so we already use the fastest possible standard international courier delivery service. Where possible, we provide a tracking number for your order so you can monitor the progress of your book. If you have any further concerns, please contact our Customer Service Team at moleskinemilk@milkbooks.com.
It is likely you have firewall settings which don’t allow our application to run; many corporate networks have firewalls which could restrict access to some features of our book creation tool. If you do wish to create a book using a server with these firewall proxy settings, you will need to ‘whitelist’ our URL *.moleskine.milkbooks.com and our book creation URL *.create.moleskine.milkbooks.com, or try accessing from another location.
www.milkbooks.com works best on Firefox. You can download Firefox here. If you don’t have Firefox, you can also use Safari (for Macs), Chrome (for PC); or Internet Explorer versions 8 and 9. NOTE: Earlier versions of Internet Explorer do not support some functions of www.milkbooks.com and will result in reduced functionality.
Your book will print as you see it. If you leave default text on a page (eg headers in Bespoke Books), please understand that it will print this way. Be sure to thoroughly review your book using our Preview function to see how it will print. Layouts with keylines left blank will still print the keyline; if you’d like a blank page, select a full bleed image or text page and leave it empty.
For the best results we recommend an image quality of 300dpi, although images over 150dpi will still be suitable for printing. We don't recommend using images less than 150dpi as we can’t guarantee their print quality. Images less than 100dpi will result in pixelation. If an image isn’t of high enough quality for the size of the image box selected, you’ll see a warning message. In this case, we suggest you select a page layout containing a smaller image box.
To find out the dpi of an image, Mac users: from iPhoto, double-click on the image and then click the Info icon; from Preview, select Tools from the top menu and then select Show inspector, or quick key Command i. PC users: open the image and click Info on the top navigation bar, or right-click on the image file, select Properties, and then select the Details tab.
Click CATALOG in the top navigation bar to browse our books and choose one to begin.
Click ABOUT in the top navigation bar to learn more about MOLESKINE + MILK Photo Books.
Click LOG IN in the top navigation bar to log in. If you already have a MOLESKINE + MILK login or an account with Facebook, Google, Yahoo or MyOpenID, you can log straight into MOLESKINE + MILK using one of these. You can register some or all of your third party logins in MY PROFILE. If you haven't created a login, click CREATE A LOGIN in the top navigation bar to set up your profile.
Once you are logged in, click MY BOOKS in the top navigation bar to access your account information, including books IN PROGRESS, MY PROFILE, CURRENT ORDERS, and ORDER HISTORY
Go to the IN PROGRESS tab in MY BOOKS to see details of your books in progress, Guest Contributors, and any open notes that have been left in your books by Guest Contributors.
Go to the MY PROFILE tab in MY BOOKS to edit your profile, register a third party login, and add a delivery address.
Go to the CURRENT ORDERS tab in MY BOOKS to track your orders. You can also reprint any of your completed books, and download and share Digital Flip Books of any books in transit.
Go to the ORDER HISTORY tab in MY BOOKS to reprint, download or share Digital Flip Books of any of your completed books.
Once you are logged in, click MY BASKET to access books currently in your basket or to go to CHECKOUT.
It’s easy to start creating your own MOLESKINE + MILK Photo Book or Album.
1. Browse the CATALOG and choose a book type.
2. Name your book and choose your cover.
3. Add images, text, and video.
4. Invite Guest Contributors to add content online from anywhere in the world. Share your book with friends, family, and colleagues on Facebook, Twitter or online.
5. Preview your book and send to print.
6. Printed to your unique specifications and delivered to your door in 7–12 days.
Technical Checklist:
1. Ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed.
2. Ensure you have enabled pop-ups in your web browser.

Use the slider at the bottom of your screen to scroll through the pages of your book. Click on the spread you want to jump to.
Click DESIGN in the top navigation to open the Design Toolbox.
Use the Design Toolbox to select and edit your Text Style, Color Palette, Cover Labels, and Cover.
Click MY CONTENT in the top navigation to import and manage your images and video.
Click INVITE in the top navigation to invite Guest Contributors to add text, images, and video to your book.
Click SHARE in the top navigation bar to share the cover and first ten pages of your book with friends and family for free via Facebook, Twitter or email.
Click PREVIEW in the top navigation to zoom in on your work and preview how your book will print.
Click SAVE in the top navigation to save your work.
Click the CHANGE LAYOUT tab on the right-hand side of your page to open the Layout Toolbox.
Use this to add or swap a different page layout or template.
Click the ADD NOTE tab on the right-hand side of your page to write and leave notes for Guest Contributors and authors while working on a book.
Click the + tab on the right-hand side of your page to add pages to your book. You can only add pages to Photo Books and Photo Albums.
Click the – tab on the right-hand side of your page to remove pages from your book. You can only remove pages you have previously added to Photo Books and Photo Albums.
You can personalize the background of your book creation space. You can turn this feature off or on again at any time by clicking the Background open book icon in the top navigation.
Click EDIT TEXT in a text box to open the Text Toolbox. All text boxes, including captions for photographs, will be indicated by the EDIT TEXT button which will appear when you hover over a text box, so you can quickly and easily identify where they are on each page. In MOLESKINE Portrait or Landscape Photo Books plus / MILK Portrait or Landscape Bespoke Books, text prompts are included in some text boxes, and this text can be deleted by simply overtyping.
IMPORTANT: if you don't delete the placeholder text, it will print as you see it on the page. We suggest you use PREVIEW to review your book before you print.
Use this to insert text, and select and edit the size, treatment, and alignment of your text.
Click EDIT IMAGE in an image box to open the Image Toolbox.
Use this to insert an image, import more images to your library, add borders to your image, and scale, flip or rotate your image.
Click EDIT VIDEO in a video box to open the Video Toolbox.
Use this to insert a video file, import more video files to your library, and select the still image that will appear in the printed version of your book.
Click EDIT QUOTE in a quote box to open the Quote Toolbox.
Use this to select a quote from our quote library, or create your own.
MOLESKINE + MILK Photo Books are created entirely online and no software downloads are required. You will need to have an up-to-date version of Adobe Flash installed. To get Adobe Flash, visit www.adobe.com.

MILK Medium Landscape and Medium Square and Large Landscape Photo Books start at 20 pages and go up to 120 pages.

Note that, because of the way our books are bound, you can add a minimum of two spreads (four printed sides) to a book at a time.

This text can be deleted by simply overtyping it but if you don't delete it, it will print as you see it on the page. We suggest you use PREVIEW to review your book before you print.

MOLESKINE Portrait Photo Books plus / MILK Portrait Bespoke Books will always have a small line at the top of each page, except on Quote Pages or where there are full-bleed images. All the quotes in our library are copyright free or have been cleared for your use. If you want to use your own quote, simply overtype the suggested quote provided, or choose a Text Page from the Layout Toolbox to create your own.
If you are using a quote sourced online, we recommend typing directly into the Edit Quote Box rather than copying and pasting from a web page. If you find a layout won't 'accept' your text, it may be because it contains HTML (web language) code that's not compatible with our system.
We will do our utmost to keep your content securely stored while you are creating your book and will store any books in progress for a minimum of 90 days after it was last accessed by you or a guest contributor. Once your book is completed we will store it for a period of 12 months after it was last printed. We will notify you before deleting any book projects and associated content.
MILK Tailor Made Books provides a creation and publishing service and is not a content hosting provider, and any books started and abandoned will be deleted after a stated period of time. All of your page layouts are displayed as thumbnails in a spread browser at the bottom of your screen. To move a page, simply click on the page you want to move, and drag and drop it to where you want it in your book. (Note that although you click on just one page, the entire spread will become red. Only the selected page will move however.) Your selected page will drop to the left of the bar cursor.
Extra pages will be added immediately after your selected spread, you can place them elsewhere in your book at any time using the spread browser.
To view your book in a single "snapshot" view, click on the Auto-Fill button and chose Layout view.

You can change your choice of fabric cover right up until checkout, which enables you to use different backgrounds while you're working on your book. A Guest Contributor can order a copy of any book they contribute to and will be notified via email when the author has completed the book. IN PROGRESS includes details of books you are guest contributing to, as well as your own books. Once a book is completed by the author, select Pay & Print from IN PROGRESS. A Guest Contributor can also customize their cover choice; it doesn't have to be the same as the author's.

There are a number of reasons why your internet might be temporarily slower than usual, including the amount of other broadband customers online in your area, or if you have opted to reduce your broadband speed if you exceed your data allowance. Please check with your internet service provider.
A minimum broadband speed of 1.0Mbps is generally required, and most average broadband speed is faster than this. MOLESKINE + MILK can be viewed with a broadband speed as low as 512Kbps, but some functions may take a long time to load and operate at this speed.

RTMP is required because of our collaboration functionality, and for the upload and playback of video content. Many corporate networks have firewalls with proxy settings that allow only HTTP content to be served, or don’t allow access to Cloudfront. If you do wish to create a book using a server with these firewall proxy settings, you will need to ‘whitelist’ our URL *.milkbooks.com and our book creation URL *.create.milkbooks.com.

This could be a wireless drop-out (which may quickly restore itself) or you may simply be unplugged, so please check your connection. Your book will refresh as soon as you reconnect. You're very unlikely to lose any content, but to keep changes up to date, remember to save your project regularly.
Alternatively, a "there appears to have been a connection error" message at project start-up may mean communication with our servers has been interupted while opening your book in the Editor. If this occurs, simply exit back to Catalog (for new projects) or My Books (for existing projects) and re-launch the Editor. In the unlikely event this problem persists, please check your firewall settings, or email help@milkbooks.com

Once you are logged in, click MY BASKET to access books currently in your basket or to go to CHECKOUT.
You can start creating a book at any time, but in order to save your work you need to set up a profile and provide a contact email address. Why? Because we take the responsibility of keeping your images, video, and text safe very seriously, and need to make sure your content is matched to you, and only you, when you return.
Click LOG IN. If you already have a login for Facebook, Google, Yahoo or MyOpenID you can log straight into MOLESKINE + MILK using one of these, or you can create a MOLESKINE + MILK login. Once you have logged in you will be asked to create your profile with your name and delivery details. You can also register some or all of your third party logins in MY PROFILE, and add multiple delivery addresses. We will only store your delivery address details; we don’t keep your billing details as PayPal handles all payment transactions securely for both of us.

We will do our utmost to keep your content securely stored while you are creating your book and will store any books in progress for a period of 90 days after it was last accessed by you or a Guest Contributor. Once your book is completed we will store it for a period of six months after it was last printed. If you complete your book but do not print it, we will store it for 60 days after it was completed. Once your book is printed we will only store your completed print files and your book will not be editable, so please ensure all your content is backed up on your computer, hard drive or content hosting service. MOLESKINE + MILK Photo Books provides a creation and publishing service and is not a content hosting provider, and any books started and abandoned will be deleted after a stated period of time. MILK Portrait Bespoke Books are 60-page text and photographic journals designed to help people to tell their story, celebrate a special person or event, record histories, recipes and travel or create memoirs and tributes. The themed editorial structure and in-built quote library help you to customize your book. These books are the best option if you would like to be able to include more text in your book and would like themed layouts (eg family tree, recipe).
MILK Portrait Bespoke Books are 7x10” / 17.8x25.4cm and feature a computer-compatible disc with a digital version of the book with additional video content. They are bound in a choice of eighteen fabrics including designer fabric options and are presented in a fabric-covered slipcase.
MILK Landscape Bespoke Books are photographic keepsakes of special moments and occasions ‘ready-made’ with themed quotes (eg Baby, Travel) and 60 pages in which to place photos.

MILK's high quality Photo Books provide easy-to-follow design templates. Starting at 20 pages, Photo Books can be expanded up to 120 pages, feature a ribbon marker, a photo recessed into the cover, and are hardcover.

MILK Photo Albums are available as 13x11" / 33x27.9cm Landscape format, and include a computer-compatible disc with a digital version of the book including and video content you choose to add. An online-shareable Digital Flipbook can also be added as an optional extra at checkout.

All MOLESKINE Photo Books feature their distinctive black cover, ivory-colored acid-free FSC certified paper, elastic, rounded corners and expandable inner pocket. With MOLESKINE Photo Albums you can choose between white or black for the cover color.
All MILK books are linen bound with a minimum choice of seven colors. MILK Portrait and Landscape Bespoke Books also feature the House Collection and Designer Collection giving an additional eleven fabric covers to choose from.

Portrait Bespoke Books are MILK’s signature product and the best option if you’d like themed templates and more text layout options, including a pre-populated structure to get you started with helpful headings and caption prompts. eg:The Baby-themed Portrait Bespoke Book includes “The Day You Were Born” and “Your Favorite Things” headings, plus family tree and special messages layouts.
Landscape Bespoke Books are more of a traditional photo book, with fewer text layout options and no pre-populated captions or headings.

All MILK books are printed on a high quality, 157gsm satin-matt art paper. The paper MILK uses is the same paper used for offset printing their award-winning photographic coffee table books.
All MOLESKINE books are printed on ivory-colored, acid-free FSC certified paper.
You can add pages to a MILK or Moleskine Photo Books or Photo Albums two spreads (four page sides) at a time, by clicking the + tab in the book editor. Extra pages will be added immediately after your selected spread.
MILK Bespoke Books and Moleskine Photo Books plus are a set number of pages (60).

Endpapers are the very first and very last pages of a book which are glued to the inside front and back case. Our endpapers are the same as those MILK uses for offset printing their award-winning photographic coffee table books.
All our books are covered in a premium quality book-binding fabric. Photo Books and Photo Albums feature a printed cover image of your choice, debossed into the front cover.

All books are printed by PQ Blackwell's long-standing and highly respected print partner, 1010 Printing Group based in Yuanzhou, China. 1010 is the same printer who prints their award-winning photographic coffee table books and is an ethically and environmentally responsible employer and is ISO accredited to ISO 9001:2000 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2004 for Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 18000 for Occupational Health and Safety, and is Disney, SEDEX and FSC certified.
MILK Tailor Made Books and 1010 Printing have jointly established a unique print and binding production facility specifically dedicated to producing MILK Tailor Made Books to the highest possible digital print and production standards. 1010 is a multi-award winning printer and was awarded 26 print awards in 2011 for their work, including two for PQ Blackwell books.
For MILK Bespoke Books and MILK Photo Albums, a digital version of your book, including any video content you choose to add, is included on a computer-compatible disc mounted on the inside back cover of your book. For these products, the disc is included in the price of your book.
Video layout pages are included as standard in all the MILK Photo Books range and a disc, containg the digital version of your book, is an optional add-on you can choose to purchase at checkout.

A Guest Contributor can order a copy of any book they contribute to, and will be notified via email when the author has completed the book. Once a book is completed by the author, select Pay & Print from CURRENT ORDERS. For MILK Books, a Guest Contributor can also customize their fabric choice; it doesn't have to be the same as the author's.

We will do our utmost to keep your content securely stored while you are creating your book and will store any books in progress for a period of 90 days after it was last accessed by you or a Guest Contributor. Once your book is completed we will store it for a period of six months after it was last printed. If you complete your book but do not print it, we will store it for 60 days after it was completed. Once your book is printed we will only store your completed print files and your book will not be editable, so please ensure all your content is backed up on your computer, hard drive or content hosting service. MOLESKINE + MILK Photo Books provides a creation and publishing service and is not a content hosting provider, and any books started and abandoned will be deleted after a stated period of time.
